Day 4 Yen Cat to Ky

Today was a wonderful day to be on the H2H ride. We had a semi early start at 7:15 and did a 91km ride through rolling hills surrounded by luscious green trees and adorable farmland.  The day started off cool and ended sunny but, a good kind of sunny. The kind of sunny that would make you want to have a picnic or even better, go on a bike ride.

So here is a quick day recap : We set off at 7:15 and biked for around five minutes before taking our first break for the famous banh mi with egg. It was an event as there are 19 of us rushing two banh mi stands…… let's just say it took a while. Then at around 7:45 we were off, fed and happy. The first 30 km of the ride was grand. We held a great pace and we all made it to a rest point around the same time to enjoy coffees, coconuts, and other treats. Then we set off to the races for what I thought was a very beautiful part of our ride. It was full of lush farm and and there were rice hats for days.

At our last stop we went to a small market and I made it my mission to find the sweetest mangoes in this market… it was a success. We then had some fruit and were back at it again. The last 31 km of our ride flew by. We stopped and took many failed selfies and even went for a swim. The swim was nice but also a trauma as one of the riders was attacked by a leech. Let's just say there was a mass exodus from the lake. In the end the leech hadn’t even attached so all was good. But the lesson I learned today was: always consider if water could have leeches and know for the future that leeches can actually swim like fish . After the leech attack most all of the riders met together at the swim spot and we all busted through the gates of  town together and dressed in our adorable and colorful jerseys that had all of our amazing sponsors on them.
