Day 15: Thanh My to Kham Duc (57km)

"It never gets easy, you just go faster."
   Greg LeMond (cyclist)

After getting through the mountainous ride on day 14 most of us had quite sore legs, but we were in good spirits because our ride to Kham Duc would be short and sweet. The day started as usual with an amazing warm up lead by Tat Lay, Claire Lormor, and yours truly.  We were all pumped up knowing there were only 57 kilometers standing between us and our second rest day.

Only a mere 57 kilometers…..I think not!  With temperatures reaching as high as 37*C/98*F that afternoon, we were roasting climbing those hills.  We had several climbs that day, but the last was the worst because it was at the end of the ride and the hottest part of the day.

Despite the numerous small hills, the sights along the ride were beautiful.  I have to say my favorite part of the day was our stop at a magnificent waterfall.  It was such a refreshing break from cycling and made me forget about all the hills to come.

Even though the hill at the end was a killer it was all worth it because we had a wonderful lunch lakeside.  Delicious pork, snails, shrimp, morning glory, and even deer!  We stayed in a lovely hotel with huge marble lions to welcome us. The whole team got together to have dinner and enjoy some celebratory drinks.
