Day 5: A Bad Day But The Ride Goes On

Dear beneficiaries, sponsors, friends and family,
H2H is deeply sorry to announce that there has been an accident on the ride. It took place on day 5 from the city of Tinh Gia to Do Luong. One of the team, Becky Chmiel was caught by a passing truck and has sustained a leg injury and can no longer ride for the rest of the journey. She is currently in VINMEC International Hospital in Hanoi and will remain there until she no longer needs treatment.

Typical of Becky, she is in good spirits, cracking jokes, remaining positive, as well as receiving the best care that she possibly can. Please respect her needs to rest and recover. Her parents and insurer have been informed. One rider, Caitlin Boylan, will stay with Becky until her parents arrive, and later Caitlin will rejoin the rest of the team to continue the journey.

At Becky's insistent request, the team has decided to continue the ride. The team is more determined than ever to do our best for the charities that we are riding for, but more importantly, everyone will continue to ride on behalf of Becky until we reach Ho Chi Minh City. We all wish Becky the best recovery and a safe and strong passage back home. The ride will continue on.

To all our supporters, partners and ride sponsor DHL, thank you for your continuing support of H2H, it means the world to us. If you would like to make a donation to the charities that Becky and the H2H 2014 team are doing this for, please visit our page and donate to any of the team at:

We have limited internet access throughout the ride but will do the best to keep you informed on our story.

Thanks,
Andrea Towne
