Day 21: Buon Me Thuot to Lien Son

By day 21 we have just completed relishing in our second rest day and what is the best way to “get back in the saddle” again?  A 40k ride and the enjoyment of a pool at our next destination, obviously. We decided to leave on the earlier because we had all agreed upon staying at a “resort” that seemed to be all inclusive with a restaurant, pool, lake and wifi. The ride was a breeze and seeing as we are so fit these days we made excellent time. We were also able to enjoy the familiar scenery of rice paddies and distant mountains. When we arrived to our (ridiculously overpriced) destination, we split off to our designated rooms and things quickly fell apart: the pool had been emptied, the wifi was nonexistent, and much to our chagrin there were no English television channels. The Steak, being on the ball leader that he is, sent out a mass text and we left to find other accommodation. Our new hotel was right up our alley and maybe even a 4.5 on the H2H scale. Being all of this happened before midday we had plenty of time to eat, drink, sleep and do as we pleased for the rest of the day.

Unfortunately, The Steak felt a familiar pain very early on in the day and made the responsible decision to sit in the van for the remainder of the ride. On the exact same day last year his legs began to quit on him and this year the mean strain in his quads returned. We are all wishing him a speedy recovery so that he may complete some of the remainder of the ride!

Lak Lake in Lien Son

Vien does not want rice wine

Neither does The Steak. That is the town's police commissioner with the bottle. He would play a major role in events of the next day.
