D-Day Diary

Today is the last day spent in Hanoi before we head off on our great adventure!

We had the morning off and a few of us (Moe, Emma, John, Kacey, Linh and I) decided to take our bikes out for a quick ride around Hoang Kiem lake. Us Saigoneers had unboxed and re-assembled our bikes sans mechanic yesterday, because we're cool like that, and they all seemed in ship shape. After a bit of tweaking and tightening, we decided it was time for coffee and breakfast.

We had our first full team meeting at lunchtime today! It was awesome to see everyone and receive some pearls of wisdom from our Great Leaders present and past, Craig and Zak. This included health and safety, team roles, the unveiling of Mr. Sexy Time, and the mysterious Craig Berry Point System©. We all had a peek at the rabbit book with the points but it only raised more questions. Only time shall reveal the secrets of the rabbit book.

After stuffing our faces with our last 'western’ comfort meal, we headed to Blue Dragon Children's Foundation. They are an amazing organization that rescues and changes the lives of victims of trafficking.

We watched a few videos of personal stories and munched on cake and juice made by kids at Blue Dragon

We all have a new buddy, Bluey

We got a full tour of the place and heard about the good work they do. We all feel so privileged to raise money for this cause!

We also had the chance to visit KOTO Hanoi. We previously held a fundraiser in KOTO Saigon in February. It seems fitting that we spent our last night before the ride stuffing ourselves with delicious food and nicking cakes from other riders. Anything for that egg tart!

Stuffed and ready to go on our adventure!

A few of us riders are feeling a bit under the weather and we hope they will be in full health for our epic journey starting tomorrow. We start at the Opera House in Hanoi with some fancy TV interviews and ride out of the city at 9! Oh, the places we'll go!
